This year’s dinner will be held at the Russian Community Centre on December 20th at 6:30 PM.

The Dinner of Love is held around Christmas for the homeless and less fortunate members of our surrounding community. The purpose of this dinner is not just to feed our guests, but to treat them as brothers and sisters while dining and chatting with them like you would your family at Christmas.

Due to overwhelmingly fantastic and generous response to this event, we are full up for volunteers and NOT seeking more help. Thank you!!

 The 2010 India Christmas VBS team heads out very soon on December 19th on their journey to Northern India to spend Christmas and New Year's with the children of the Dar-ul-Fazl home in Manali. Although they won't be travelling by sleigh pulled by reindeer, they will be bringing gifts for each child, worker, and returning graduate.

We are excited to announce that we have reached our goal of 125 gifts, and then some! You can still donate toward this project and extra money raised will go over and above Christmas presents to help out the kids and staff at the two homes we support in Northern India.

Come along and challenge yourself with what is said to be Vancouver's most famous hike, the Grouse Grind (also known as Mother Nature's Stairmaster). This is a 2.9-km natural stairmaster that takes you straight up the face of Grouse Mountain (an ascent of 853 m). Takes 50-90 minutes to complete. Meet at the top for food, drinks and live music as Wednesday nights are Social Night at Grouse.

I am back in Bulawayo, Zimbabwe right now after a weekend of what they call a ‘crusade.’ I felt called to come back and to look into Family Impact now and to go back to White River to finish my work with the women on the mountain and to help with a women’s conference May 7-9. I am staying at David Cunningham’s House with my own suite and three square meals a day!

I left the plans ‘I’ had as I felt that God was directing back to Bulawayo ASAP. I was unfortunately living under what felt like spiritual oppression as the ministry of the pastor and mine are very different--our ages, our cultures, and our personalities; so after praying and speaking with my “advisors” including a Joberg pastor and my sister and friend I felt it was time to part ways and it was God’s timing. It did not make too much sense but as I have said “God’s perfect plans do not always make sense but obedience does.”

Today I feel the healing and restoration from this time (the oppression and confusion) is really at work and I am in a good place aside from getting to know a whole bunch of new faces at the Family Impact office  and once again being outside my comfort zone (in my YWAM outreach I used to always say to my team “If you are not out of your comfort zone you are not growing” HA! so here I go… spiritual steroids once again!) I am doing well and am following the principles of the bible to obey the need for forgiveness! Glory to God!

Labas! (Greetings)

I can’t believe that I’m writing this letter to you from yet another country already! And let me tell you, it is nothing like India or Vancouver over on this end of the planet.

So, here I sit in Lithuania, in my room in the castle – okay… So it’s not a BIG castle, but it’s called a castle, nonetheless – trying to think of how I am to sum up my first impressions of this country. But words don’t quite captivate the splendour of our LORD and of His creation. As the snow is melting here, it’s beginning to remind me a little more of home, but without the mountains. Still, though, it is nothing like home at all! I am constantly amazed at the uniqueness of all of God’s masterpieces. How can so many places vary and be so diverse? How can so many people be so intricately made that none are the same? And, yet, He gently reminds me that within all of these differences and variations, we are each made in His image.

We safely arrived here on Thursday, March 4^th, and, although our travels were simple, we have quickly realized that this trip is going to be a more evident battle than anticipated. Upon arrival we were informed of an article written about the church and how we are connected with a satanic sect. So that was our first challenge: how are we to minister to people when they are afraid of us? We are no longer (until further notice) able to teach English in the local school here, and we are finding that our ministry opportunities have been quite hindered. But God is good! He is bigger than any challenge that we face here and we are continually seeing His provision in ways unexpected.

Overall, I'd (of course) say that things are great! God has given us different opportunities in ways and places that I wouldn't have even thought of! God is SO awesome! I'm not going to lie, though, as much as I really am enjoying this and I know that God is seriously at work and doing amazing things, it is rough and it is tiring. On the plus side, though, I know that it should be tiring and I'm stoked and astounded that God is really choosing to use me! It's crazy to think of it like that. I mean, I could complain that I'm not sleeping well or that there are struggles, but really, I know that I should be celebrating because the struggles and hardships are proof to me that "the LORD on high is mightier than the noise of many waters, than the mighty waves of the sea!" (Psalm 93:4) And that excites me!

I’ve never been in a place where the battles of the spiritual realm are so palpable and forward. Our team here is really learning to find out what is meant in Matthew 11:28-30. We are continually being taught just how real it is to have a total reliance on the LORD for our strength! But God is so faithful. His words are so sweet. It’s true when He promises in Joshua 1:9 that He will never leave us or forsake us. Even in the darkest of valleys and trials here, we are seeing God’s light shining! Even the smallest of candles shines brightest in the darkness. "I have come a light into the world, that whosoever believes in Me should not abide in darkness" (John 12:46).

Our vision here is that we not only are lights in this country, but that we spark and spur on the few believers here to live out their faith! Our vision is that when we go home at the end of May, that the church here be shining brighter than ever before; that the pews are full; that people cannot get enough of hearing the Word. Even in writing that now, however, I laugh at meekness of that prayer! God is capable of so much more! I know that He is able to do that and multiply it’s prevalence by the thousands!

CHILD OF MINE is a non-profit organization that provides schooling, housing and other essentials to two homes for vulnerable children in India. Last year, children from the homes were equipped with cameras and a basic photography lesson then sent out to capture their world on film.

 

This year Westside is sending three short-term teams to India to work and serve at the children’s homes through Child Of Mine. The money raised from this fundraiser will all go toward paying for supplies and donations needed to take to the children and staff. This year we anticipate buying new bedsheets, paint for the school and boys' dormitory, VBS curriculum, general construction materials and kids rock climbing equipment. All these items will be directly used for the benefit of the children and staff and their living conditions.

 

Our fundraising goal for this event is $6,000. This would allow each team $2,000 to help pay for needed supplies.

There are 3 ways to contribute toward this great cause:

1. Buy a ticket and come to this great event – We need to sell approximately 75 tickets to cover all our costs, and every ticket after that goes directly to our goal of $6,000.
2. Come and purchase some art – The children from India will have their works on display and for sale. All proceeds go directly back to these kids through the supplies we’ll be purchasing for them.
3. Give straight from your wallet – If you come to Photogenic you’ll also be able to give above and beyond your ticket price. You’ll receive a tax receipt for any monetary donation above $20. You’ll be able to give through cash, cheque, debit, Visa, Mastercard or Amex.

It is such a privilege to write you again knowing that I have the prayer support of my Church family with me!  It wasn’t long ago that I was writing a letter from Shanti Niketan, sharing Christmas and three amazing months with our brothers and sisters in Christ there across the world.  As much as I have missed being in India, and as much as I have missed being with you, Westside, I know that God has called me for more training and serving. 

For those of you who do not know, I have started Winter TREK with MBMSInternational – a short-term missions program.  Currently, I am living out in Abbotsford for the training phase of the program.  So far we have covered topics such as Worship, Hearing God’s Voice, Suffering, Personal Holiness, Relinquishing Your Rights, and Walking with God.  Also, we are going through Steve Klassen’s book, Trained by Jesus.  This program has been amazing, and I have no doubt that it will continue to be as we continue seeking after God and learning that much more about His Word!

It is great to see how God can take seventeen of us from completely different backgrounds, circumstances, and struggles, and pull us together to work as teams serving Him.  It is truly amazing how we are all so diverse and, yet, we are created by and in the image of One True God!  It really shows that we cannot put God into a box.  We all have such a kaleidoscope of characteristics and personalities, and He forms them together to something so beautiful!

This past week we got our teams and destinations!  It was very exciting, and, yet, bittersweet.  We have just gotten to know sixteen other amazing men and women of God, but when we go for our assignments, there are only four or five of us on each team.  As amazing as each of the teams are, we can’t help but miss the other twelve people that aren’t going to be serving with us, but rather serving in another nation, and then together serving our God.  That said, I am proud to be a part of “Team Lithuania”.  Myself along with Jon Giesbrecht, Ben Brown, Jaymie Anderton and Sara Lambert will be heading out about February 27^th!  Please pray for us as we begin this adventure together!  I will be sending prayer cards out shortly as well as trying to keep you updated with different prayer requests. 

Thank you so much for the love and support you all have shown me, and thank you for your ever needed prayers!

This theatre is right beside Sammy J. Pepper's near the entrance to the Island, and has entrances from both the street and the boardwalk.

Hope you all had a blessed and Christ-centred Christmas. Here, we had the best Christmas in the history of Shanti Niketan.

• We had a wonderful time with the VBS Team during Christmas and New Year's. The love, unity and the co-operation among the Team was remarkable. We learned many things from them and we, the children and staff, are blessed by them.
• Everybody likes to take holidays with friends and families especially during this festive season; we really appreciate the dedication and sacrifice of all the Team members.
• Thank you so much for all the gifts we have received. We want to thank all the donors and the Team who brought all them the long way from such a far distance. We know it's not easy. Thanks a lot for that!
• The dinner on 25 December, 2009 at Victoria Continental Inn was very special for all of us. That was beyond our dream and our first time dinner out for most of us.
• On New Year's Eve also, we had a good time with the VBS Team. We had a bonfire, games, birthday celebration, sharing, worship and dancing. Our New Year's resolution is, “but as for me, it is good to be near God” Ps. 73:28. God has been so faithful to our Home family. He has done marvellous things in our lives. And it is very important for our Home family to stay close to Him.
• We take also this opportunity to write a short note of gratitude on the successful completion of the construction work that was initiated by the team. I am really delighted to inform you that through your support and help following projects could be carried out:
  • Fencing of the girl’s dorm and the completion of Playground fencing
  • Installation of the Basketball board in front of the girl’s dorm
  • Installation of lockers in the girl’s dorm
  • Fixing of new windows and doors of Big boys toilet and Girls’ Dorm store
  • Repairing Small Boys toilet and bathroom

We are glad that to keep our home in tune with the changing scenario of holistic development and modern infrastructure these projects could be carried out successfully. This could be possible because of the determined efforts of the construction team, the support of all Church members and the sincere involvement of the every single individual residing in this Home. I assure you that what you have done will be remembered and talked about in the days and years to come. Every ounce of your energy that you spent here will continue to inspire us to be good stewards of God’s resources.

By the end of that trip, my plane ticket home had been changed and I’m now staying until December 30! I have completely fallen in love with the culture and people of India—especially a certain 120 of them! ...

Dear Everyone,
 
Greetings from the beautiful mountain views of Kenya. The birds are in the morning light 24 inches from my face through a white casement window getting nectar from red trumpet flowers. They fly like hummingbirds and use long, curved beaks. Warm sun this morning as it rose on my left, starting off another good day to serve Him.
 
Last night two folks died of head injuries. A child with a fall from a tree and a bicyclist hit by a truck... Neither made it to surgery which probably was not indicated anyway. So sad.
 
Today's OR is burn excision with skin grafting after a fall in the fire with seizures, bilateral tubal ligation, thyroidectomy and exploration and drainage of a femur in an 8 year old for osteomyelitis. The pace is measured and the first case started at 10 am Kenyan time.

Yesterday, the young American ob/gyn surgeon Christina helped a patient, through an interpreter, to give her life to the Lord. Even though a Catholic she had never heard the good news before. We have gracious pastoral staff visiting everyday in the hospital and helping with the real "heart" problems of our patients and the atmosphere is happy. Most patients are outside for the day sitting on the grass.

As I mentioned earlier, money usually has to be paid before service is given. This however at times is missed and complicated treatments go on and on and the bills rise up. One little guy with osteomyelitis of his femur after 3 months in hospital has a bill of over $2000. With an average wage for a worker being $8/day... it becomes pretty hopeless. Many have incomes much lower or nonexistent.

If anyone would like to help some or even one of these people to go home, let me know. I will plan to help some by having their bill paid. I can provide the history and a picture. Any amount would be wonderful because not all the bills are that high but are still insurmountable for the poor ones. You can have a part in helping maybe only one. But that one is important.

One baby born here, I may have mentioned before [the mom's ruptured uterus is finally now healing] after 5 months... the baby is starting to crawl! And they stay until the family or someone helps. The ones we are concerned for have nothing in sight.
 
Cathy is intently working at a library that needed reorganizing. She is well suited for the task. She heads there for about 5 hours a day and the work will pay off well. The library is useful for children of course but also local pastors who are uneducated and do not have any of their own books. It is central to the workings of the AIC church here beside the hospital. The job is just what she needs at this time without too many stressful interpersonal interactions. She is working with Janet who is post high school and hired by the medical director's wife to be the "librarian." Cathy is doing what she is not ready to do yet.
 
Our time is going quicker now. We will have to go to the next town Eldert (two hours by dirt road) soon for more food. Not much but bread and fruit to buy here. The only shopping is on the two sides of a muddy road with lots of people and matatus (small, overloaded vans rated to be over full with 15.. .my surgical resident counted 26 people in one he was riding in still with no one on top). The shops are 8 feet wide and offer everything from phone cards and cell phone recharging for 25 cents to tailor shops, tire repair to stationary purchased through a wire protective wall to prevent theft. Lots of hair salons, pool halls and "cafes." Only one store on the strip can you actually walk around in. First off, I would like to say thank you for your generous and overwhelming support toward the staff salaries at Shanti Niketan and Dar-ul-Fazl Children’s Homes this past weekend. Through your generous love offering we were able to raise $9,320!!! I was able to contact the directors of both Homes and they were deeply touched and asked me to pass along their heartfelt thanks.

I also wanted to update you on some changes that have recently happened with Child Of Mine. When Child of Mine was launched in August 2008, Westside Church, along with partner Willow Park Church, had an agreement with Zoram Evangelical Fellowship based in Mizoram, India. This agreement defined that through Child Of Mine partners, both Westside and Willow Park would support feeding, clothing and educating the children, repairing and maintaining the living environment of the children, providing for post-secondary options for older children, and pouring resources into staff development and training. Zoram Evangelical Fellowship was responsible for supporting the staff spiritually and continuing in their responsibility of paying the staff’s salaries. Over the past year Zoram Evangelical Fellowship has experienced severe financial hardships and is no longer able to pay the staff’s salaries. 

In a renegotiation of the agreement, Westside and Willow Park, through Child Of Mine, have approved taking on the responsibility of staff salaries. What this means for present and future Child Of Mine partners is that not only will our funds be providing for staff training and development, but they will also provide for their salaries. It is exciting to see how God has continued to provide for the Homes and children even during these hard times!

The love offering that came in over the weekend will go toward back-paying the staff salaries and provide a jumpstart on future salary needs.

Child Of Mine News!

Recently Shanti Niketan Children’s Home in India admitted 3 new children. Each one of the children went through an admittance interview and was taken in as it was determined they had no other safe place to go. Get to know the new children below.

 

Lata Kumari is 5 years old. Lata’s father died last year and her mother is a daily wager. After the death of her father, Lata’s mother became responsible for providing for Lata and her 5 brothers and sisters. Lata’s mother makes less than a dollar a day and therefore the family has been living in extreme poverty. Due to not being able to care for her anymore, Lata’s mother brought her to the Home for care. Since being admitted to Shanti Niketan, Lata has commenced her education and has thrived under the care of the staff.

Naresh is 6 years old. Both of his parents have been diagnosed with leprosy and live in a leprosy colony in the region. Naresh’s father has lost several fingers and limbs due to the leprosy and thus finds it difficult to work. As a result it not possible for his parents to support and give him an education with no property, land or source of income. Naresh’s parents brought him to the home for care and support and he has begun his education since arriving.

Vidya Sagar is 5 years old. Like Naresh both of Vidya’s parents have been diagnosed with leprosy and live in a leprosy colony. Vidya’s father is unable to work due the disease claiming his leg. His mother also struggles to work due to the damage the disease has done to her body. Vidya’s parents surrender him to the home for care and support. Since coming to the home he has begun his schooling.

Barney Kinard is sticking around after his parenting workshop to lead a special event for the kids! This is happening during the 9 AM gathering only, on Sunday, August 23, and for the Crash, Stand and Impact classes. The children are to be signed in and out of their regular theatres, then the teachers will take them to Theatre 4 for the rally.

Barney is a children's evangelist, children's missionary, leadership coach/mentor, speaker/author, gospel magician, puppeteer, ventriloquist and designer of creative children's ministry resources. It is sure to be a very fun time!!

I was born to a Hindu parent in a small village of Himachal Pradesh. I was the fifth child and the first son to my parent after four sisters. Due to male dominant society and male chauvinism my parent had all the reason to long for a son who could carry on the family lineage. In their pursuit of a son my parents made pilgrimage to different temples and prayed to gods and goddesses. Finally they were blessed with a son, whom they dedicated to their deity. At that point of time little did they know that one day he would worship Creator instead of creatures. However when everything was getting along nicely some situation led my father into deep trauma and he became mentally retarded.

Since ours was a big family, it was extremely difficult for my parent to rear us with the existing resources. Due to extreme poverty my parents enrolled me in Shanti Niketan Children’s Home. It was there I first heard and experienced God’s love in full extent. Initially the daily devotion, Sunday school and the church were just part of routine for me, but eventually God’s word began to work in my life. Apart from the lives of missionaries, the sacrificial lives of my mentors also inspired and motivated me to follow in their footsteps. I often dreamt of becoming a missionary, but the moment I entered teenage I got swept away by peer pressure and I almost lost the track. I almost gave up the idea of becoming a missionary and thought of earning name and fame. But mysterious are the ways of God...........

Sometimes things come to happen when they are least expected, things which can change the entire course of our life. It was 1st January 2000, the very first day of the New Year as well as new millennium. When the entire cosmos was celebrating the advent of this great day I was completely shattered and broken in my heart. It was in this very day I lost my beloved father.

It was hard for me to see my father dying without knowing Christ. The scene of setting my dad’s funeral pyre afire is vividly fresh in my mind. Several questions were coming across my mind. Will I ever get to see my father again? Instead of making me bitter those suffering and hardships made me better. In a way it was an eye opener for me. It was during this time I discovered the love of my heavenly father and restore my relationship with Him. Earlier I used to pray Lord please send some who could share the gospel to my parents, but that day I said Lord here am I. It made me aware of my responsibility towards my family and community who were living in the bondages of sin. I decided to dedicate my life for His glorious ministry. However I still had a long way to go and numerous challenges came across my way to dampen my faith. The stiffest challenged that came my way was to continue my studies. Being the elder son I had huge responsibility and obligations towards my family. I had no option but to quit my studies and stay back at home. Since by that time I had already developed a desire to graduate and go to Bible College, I prayed to God to open way.  My heart never ceases to thank God for my younger brother who quit his studies in order to fulfil my dream.
God enabled me to finish my Bachelor of Arts degree in the year 2004 after which I started my theological studies, a chance I long yearned for. During four years of my theological studies God broke me, moulded me, shaped me and taught me several valuable lessons. The more I studied God’s word, the more I became aware of my ignorance and spiritual poverty. It was there I realized what I knew about the scripture was superficial and next to nothing. On June 28th, 12 Westsiders will journey to the northeastern part of India, to a town called Manali.  Here this Trekking/Service Team from Westside Church will spend time at the Dar-ul-Fazl Children’s Home. The team will be organizing and implementing an afterschool kids camp for the 100 orphan children that live at the home. The day camp will include three key components: 1. Worship/Bible Teaching, 2. Games/Sports, 3. The Arts.  Each component of the camp will be built around leadership development and the biblical teachings of “Trust”.

THE PROJECT
The art component of the camp is going to be called Photogenic.  This project will teach the children fundamentals of photography; giving them each a chance to put their news skills to use by capturing images of their daily lives in India.

Each child will be given a ”single-use” camera to take images of daily life in their hometown (Manali) and at the Dar-ul-Fazl orphanage where they live and go to school. After the children have taken their photos we’ll then get them developed in India so they can enjoy their prints and see how they applied their newly learned photography skills! When the team returns to Canada a second set of photos will be printed to show you and others the children’s work through an exhibit called Photogenic (date TBD), similar to our last Child Of Mine exhibit called Tileworks.

Just wanted to send you all a little update on my trip so far. It’s already been two months! Time is going way too quickly, but I’m having a wonderful time.

Well I don’t really know where to start, this place is my home now and I’m so comfortable. God is just so present in this place all the time, and it’s so encouraging to be surrounded by people who are so on fire for God and striving after Him. On the whole base there are over 35 different countries represented. It really is such a neat mix of people and cultures and I guess that only God can make it run so smoothly.

In my Troubadour Discipleship Training School I am one of 30 students from 13 different nationalities and we have seven wonderful staff who support us so much and from day one have just made this place so welcoming and safe. Each week in class we have a new speaker who teaches on a topic. The topics have varied so much from Worldview, to Spiritual Warfare, to the Bible, to God the Artist, to the Holy Spirit, etc. It’s really neat how each different speaker brings something so different and unique to the class. Also because we are an arts focused DTS there is a creative spin on what we do, in our projects and assignments, and some of the teachings. It’s really great how the arts are so encouraged and we have really good access to resources when we want-it makes for such a creative and free atmosphere.  

Just being in this atmosphere and being so open to learn, I am growing so much closer with God. I can see it in my prayer life, my relationships, my attitude, etc. It really is so exciting. I fully expect this to be a life changing experience, and I am here to soak up everything I can and get the full experience out of it. Of course some weeks have been better than others, but I can always see God speaking in some way.

In about three weeks,at the end of lecture faze, we’ll all be heading off for outreach where we’re going to apply everything we’ve been learning. There is a team going to Brazil, one staying for a local outreach in South Africa, and my team is going to Botswana (the country just north of South Africa). We are a team of seven with our two leaders and their child. So we’re going to be spending one month in the capital of Botswana, Gabarone, where we’ll be greeted by a church there, and get to work with them and see where we are needed to help and evangelize. Then for the next month we will be in a city called Mafikeng, just across the border into South Africa. Our team has been meeting together often to talk, pray, learn dances and dramas, and just prepare and unify ourselves so we can go out and be as effective as we can be for the Lord.

It’s so neat to look back already at how far I’ve come since I came here. And it’s even more exciting to think about how much more I’m going to learn and grow before I leave here. I have such a renewed passion for the ministry and the arts ministry and I can see now how much God will use me in my life if I’m just open to it and surrendered to Him.

Thanks you so much for all your prayers, I’m continually becoming aware of the power of prayer and it’s so exciting. Please continue to pray for me, especially in the area of our outreach. For team unity, and relationships within the team. Also for finances-we are doing fundraisers and asking for support, but all in all we just need to trust God in that area and trust that we have been placed in this team for a reason and He will provide for us.

New Children Admitted to Shanti Niketan Home
On December 31, 2008 police found two boys wandering in Dharampur District, they were unable to find any trace of their parents. Finally, the police brought the two boys to the Shanti Niketan Home and requested the staff to care for them.

Initially the boys said that they were brothers, although recently confessed to the staff that they are not. One of them, Bandia said that he has one brother but no parents. He has no house, used to sleep in the railway station and beg. Sunha said that he has parents but does not know where they are.  

Till date no one has claimed them.

Due to your overwhelming generous partnerships and support the Home has been able to official admit the boys and care for their needs.

Update on Ashok
For the past year Ashok, one of the boys from the Shanti Niketan Home, has been in the hospital battling an infection in his lower intestine.  Due to the severity of the infection and the lack of health care in India, several times Ashok almost lost his life and went home to meet the Lord.  We are overjoyed to report that Ashok has recovered and is now back at the Home.

We as a family are overjoyed and overwhelmed to have Ashok back in our midst. Indeed last one year was a test of our faith and character. When Ashok’s life was in jeopardy, when we ran out of resources and found ourselves engulfed with all uncertainties, God in His providence gave us people like you to encourage, uphold and support us. I want to extend my heartfelt gratitude to each one of you for standing beside us in the hour of need. Without your fervent prayer, sacrificial love and constant support things would have been pretty difficult for us. Your contribution in helping Ashok to restore his life is commendable. We are grateful to you for coming out of your comfort zone and partaking in our suffering. Though he has been discharged from the hospital he still needs your prayer and support to fully recover. He is still under medication and needs to be fully fit in order to resume his studies.

On March 29th, his first Sunday back at the Home, with tears in his eyes he testified to God for his faithfulness. He thanked all of you for your love, care and support, which you rendered to him during the most difficult phase of his life.

Prayer for Dur-Ul-Fazl Children’s Home
On April 1st the Dul-Ul-Fazl Home lost their food ration card status.  With the ration cards food cost the Home 1/3 of the market value.  Now the Home has to pay as much as 3 times the previous amount for their food.  Director Mawetii is currently in the process of appealing to the local government to have their status reinstated.  We are asking for you prayer support as Mawetii makes this appeal.  Please pray that the Home would find favor among the government officials and they would receive their food ration card status back.

• We will not serve communion but encourage familes or friends to take communion at home.
• KIDS - we ask that if your child is sick that they stay home.  Sick children should not go to Sunday  classes.
• If you are currently sick or flu-y please stay home...you can listen to the messge via the mp3 on the web.
• Wash your hands MUCH!

Greetings from Shanti Niketan!  Hope you are having great time in your work places God has assigned you. Being a part of our family I thought it appropriate to let you know what’s happening in Shanti Niketan so that we all could praise God for His steadfast and unfailing love. Children are back to their schools after two months of lay off. Many have joined new school so they are pretty excited. Some of the senior children are having their final examination so please continue to uphold them in your prayers.

Ashok underwent another major surgery on 10th of March. We were bit apprehended and tensed as the doctors were not sure about the outcome of the surgery. Thank God the surgery was successful. He is still under medication and may have to lie in the hospital more than a month. We feel sorry for him because it is hampering his studies. At time it is difficult for us to meet his expenses also. So far God has been faithful to us and has been providing accordingly. Please continue to pray for his speedy recovery so that he can get back to his studies soonest. It’s all because of your love and prayers that he is still in our midst. We are sending you post surgery photographs. Once again thank you from the bottom of our hearts for being there for us every time.

April Kids Club: Family Easter Egg Hunt!

On Easter Sunday we would like to invite families with kids to an Easter Egg Hunt with a twist! Join us in Theatre 4 for a group game, a gospel presentation and a hunt. Hope you all are having great & fruitful time in your ministries. Here we all are doing well by God’s grace. Children have started going to their schools after their winter vacation. I want to extend my heartfelt thanks & gratitude for all your sincere efforts in making our Home a better place.  The construction of our playground, boy’s toilet & girl’s dorm’s porch has been completed.   This would have been not possible without your fervent prayers & faithful support. This year we had grand Christmas celebration in our new play ground. Everyone who turned up for the celebration was stunned to see such tremendous changes. Apart from Christmas celebration we also had our annual sports day in our new ground. It was indeed an emotional moment for us to see our children cheerfully partaking in games & sports in such a good & spacious ground. Boys have also started using newly constructed toilet. They are overjoyed in using new toilet with all modern amenities & facilities. Thanks a million for your love & generosity.
 
Thank you one and all for your love, care & faithfulness. You all have been instrumental in shaping the future of Indian church and your investment will eventually pay rich dividends for the Lord.  You all have a special place in our hearts.  May God bless you all and continue to use you mightily for the extension of His kingdom, especially in North India, which is least exposed to the gospel.
